The Livestock Coordinator/Specialist will lead a remote team of staff in Dar’a and partner to deliver high quality livestock programming in South Syria that improves economic outcomes for families and children. The Livestock Coordinator/Specialist will be responsible for providing key technical support for World Vision Agriculture projects in affected communities in South Syria. The role will support the procurement of appropriate inputs, train beneficiaries, support the South Syria team in understanding the local context, develop tools and approaches for effective livestock programming and report to project staff regularly on project achievements and challenges.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the Livelihoods Portfolio Manager in coordinating the project activities and supporting the technical capacity of staff,
    • Creation of livestock support activities and interventions
    • Creation of a unified knowledge database, which contributes to the project outcomes
    • Collecting data in line with monitoring indicators per MEAL team inputs, reporting regularly to the livelihoods team
  • Deliver livestock technical support services to the project target group (by skype, Whatsapp and other remote technologies) and project team to build the technical capacity of the livelihoods team,Technical capacity requests provided by the project staff and beneficiaries are delivered and reported after delivery
  • Provide quality control over the technical performance of project staff, and ensure the reporting of capacity gaps,
    • Monthly technical performance report provided to the Livelihoods Portfolio Manager
    • Target Farmers and staff capacity building plans reviewed and ready for use
  • Manage staff to ensure they deliver the project on time, on budget and to a high technical standard, Project staff performance plans and reviews are in place, and monthly capacity building plan is implemented
  • Create livestock activities guidelines that are in line with the context and share information through digital means, a user-friendly catalog of shortlisted agricultural guides are developed based on needs identified by the community
  • Attend and participate in project reviews and sector working group meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as required
Educational Background: 
University diploma related to livestock management and animal science
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years’ experience in training or knowledge management
  • Five years’ experience delivering livestock programming and coordination and managing staff to deliver livestock projects
  • Proven ability and experience in project management and delivering online technical services
  • Experience in organizing trainings
  • Experience in translation and reporting
  • Fluency in English and Arabic languages
  • Advanced skills in information technologies
  • Facilitation and training skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, working in a high pressure, high risk environment
  • Knowledge of the context in Syria is a plus
  • Experience in working with universities or training providers
