Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is in search of an experienced and dedicated Software Developer II who will develop specifications for moderately complex software programming applications and modifies/maintains the existing software. The Software Developer II must be able to get up to speed on the design and structure of legacy applications in order to provide support or recommend replacement strategy. This person will be responsible for performing general application development activities, including unit testing, code deployments, and technical documentation and must be able to partner with business clients to understand needs and priorities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Working with customers or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.
- Assumes ownership of core components of existing systems and recommend, plan, and implement improvements
- Provides production support for existing software within the areas covered by the role
- Performs moderately complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities
- Scopes and designs efficient solutions to documented business needs
- Conducts unit & integration testing
- Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions to the problems
- Improves software components to be consistent, easily supported and highly performing through the use of existing software design guidelines and analysis of performance bottlenecks
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- 3+ years programming experience with relational databases management systems, multiple programming languages, libraries and software frameworks (Visual C#, .NET, ASP, ASP.NET, HTML, VBScript, JavaScript, JQuery and .NET Framework 4.0/4.5).
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communications skills
- Experience in supporting and maintaining multi-platform applications
- Experience developer leveraging Microsoft development stack (MS Access, .NET, SQL Server, Visual C#, etc.)
- Experience with relational database technologies and creating complex queries. (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
- Understanding of object oriented programming technologies
- Eye for detail and identifying problems
- Strong technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design patterns and implementation
- Ability and willingness to ramp up the learning curve of off the shelf software applications in order to function as technical SME
- Proficient client management skills to support business analysis and application support activities.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Teamwork skills because most projects require input from individuals with different roles
- Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively
- Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business
- Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-profit experience or background.
- Grant management business process knowledge
- Experience with software application WebGrants (by Dulles, Inc.)
