Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is in search of an experienced Senior Grant Accountant to join our team. In this role you will ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Will apply critical thinking to financial and other information presented within the scope of their responsibilities preparing accurate and timely financial reports, researching issues/questions related to grant accounting and reporting. This position can be based at HFHI's Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia or at the Operational Headquarters in Americus, Georgia. This position is eligible for HFHI’s full relocation package.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Grant accounting:
- Perform grant accounting for HFHI (excluding branches) grants in compliance with grantor/donor requirements, which includes month-end accounting.
- Prepare financial reports for project managers and other stakeholders for grant/project management purposes. (Budget vs Actuals report – BvA)
- Prepare donor financial reports for grants with reporting requirements and comply with specific requirements as stated in grant agreements.
- Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts related to grants.
- Perform cash management activities for grants received through HFHI following donor requirements:
- Prepare drawdown vouchers of grant funds when applicable and all the necessary reconciliations to support the voucher;
- Create invoices/certified expense reports to request funds for reimbursement of grant expenses, if required in the agreement.
- Prepare audit schedules and provide requested support and additional information as needed for the following audit types:
- Internal Audit;
- Grantors/Donors Audit;
- External audit required by donors.
- Develop tools and templates to support accurate accounting and reporting of transactions related to grants.
- Provide support and accounting information as needed to various stakeholders, including GCDR compliance managers.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Skills/Experience:
- Years of Related Experience: Minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and/or IFRS. (International Financial Reporting Standards)
- Experience in reconciling highly complex transactions and accounts.
- Experience completing periodic accounting reports based on specific and/or varied requirements.
- Detail-oriented, particularly with regard to donor agreements, contracts and other related legal documents.
- Ability to coordinate with all stakeholders of grants management.
- Good verbal communication and inter-personal relation skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel. (Pivot tables, vlookup, macros, etc.)

Preferred:
- Grant Accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Navision.
- Knowledge of Uniform Guidance. (2 CFR Part 200)
- Knowledge and experience of complex donor requirements, such as US Federal Agencies, Irish Aid, DFID, CIDA, EU, etc.
- International NGO experience.
- CPA
