Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented individual for the role of an Accounts Payable Associate. The Accounts Payable Associates perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. They complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Review and verify invoices and check requests for proper accounting and compliance with HFHI policies
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system and set them up for payment
  • File and maintain vendor backup
  • Process employee expense reports
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues and correspond with requestors and/or vendors
  • Ensure that vendor banking is accurate on vendors
  • Process invoices from the PO system
  • Reviewing and Entering Transactions
  • Phone, Filing, Processing Payments
Educational Background: 
High school diploma
Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of accounts payable experience
  • Must adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Must have strong work ethics
  • Must be well organized and a self-starter
  • Must be able to follow standard filing procedures
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, Outlook, internet look-up, banking systems
  • Working knowledge of accounting software, preferably NAVISION
  • Working knowledge of electronic T&E (travel expenses) reporting

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of 1099 vendors, contracts, sales & use taxes
  • Experience with employee travel system
  • Purchase order experience
  • Experience with escheatments
