The West Texas Chapter, Amarillo office,  is seeking to hire a dynamic Development Specialist to provide support and leadership for the development, oversight and execution of a diversified comprehensive development plan in accordance with the Alzheimer's Association's strategic plan. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement all aspects of assigned fundraising events such as Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, RivALZ Blondes vs. Brunettes and all other events assigned. This is including but not limited to securing venues, sponsorships, media partnerships, etc.
  • Ensures that events meet revenue and participant targets by proactively securing event sponsorships, team fundraising and participant fundraising.
  • Tracks event metrics and plans strategies to fill revenue gaps.
  • Organize, lead and promote interest in special events.
  • Work with Chapter Leadership to establish budgets, work plans and timelines for events.
  • Proactively seek out, recruit, train and manage high impact volunteers for fundraising events who will assist the organization in increasing concern and awareness as well as growing revenue.
  • Implements and manages the committee model structure for each event, ensuring that key positions have strong volunteer leaders.
  • Plan and participate in meetings, providing input and suggestions. Maintain steady communication with chapter staff and volunteers.
  • Manage, evaluate, and expand fundraising programs under the direction of the Development Director and Chapter Executive leadership.
  • Communicate effectively in person and in writing to large and a variety of audiences. Effective use of media outlets.
  • Represent the Association in a positive and professional manner at public events, conferences, workshops, and media events where there is fundraising potential and ability to raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association and its mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or 4 years of fundraising experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Track record of achieving fundraising/development goals.
  • Previous experience working with volunteer driven organizations preferred.
  • Understanding of fundraising and organizing/planning of special events.
  • Team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. Must develop and maintain relationships.
  • Effectively multi-task, establishes priorities, work in a fast paced environment.
  • Possess strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills required. Experience with CRM database or fundraising software a plus, (Training on Convio software provided).
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to encourage teamwork. Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy.
  • Ability to speak in front of small and large audiences.
  • Multicultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse community members.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, early mornings and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties.
  • Must possess a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to lift minimum of 35 pounds.
