Reporting to the Director of the Volunteer Resource Center, this position will develop relationships with various corporations to engage them in meaningful service to our community. In execution of duties, this position will require an extensive amount of time making presentations and coordinating projects, including some nights and weekends, and working closely with the Central Florida non-profit community. This position is not responsible for fundraising.
Areas of Responsibility:
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Develop/maintain relationships with and provide strategic opportunities to serve to local corporate groups, including the coordination of Day of Caring and other signature volunteer events, and year-round service opportunities, including some evening and weekend opportunities.
- Plan and manage at least three community engagement events that engage the community at large in our priority areas.
- Develop/maintain relationships with HFUW affinity groups and provide strategic opportunities for them to serve.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to produce virtual and printed communications needed for assigned VRC events.
- In coordination with the Gifts In Kind Center manager, assist in the solicitation of in-kind donations from corporate and other contacts.
- Develop strong working relationships with community based organizations, focusing on those organizations whose work aligns with our Investing In Results (IIR) priorities. Obtain a working knowledge of their programs, offering consultative and resource support on volunteer management issues as appropriate and needed.
- Update and produce monthly reports on activity and accomplishments, in addition to periodic status reports to the Director.
- Supervise any volunteers or interns directly assigned.
- Assist with any other departmental needs and serve as back up to team members as requested.
- Occasionally work evening and weekend events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in non-profit management, public administration or related field
Skills/Experience:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting of items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, regularly moving throughout the building between floors, traveling to outside meetings, regular use of standard office equipment such as the telephone, copier, fax and computer.
- Demands also involve protracted concentration.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
- Occasional driving of company owned and rented vehicles, including vans and large trucks (up to 26 ft. box trucks).
- Job involves frequent and routinely intense public contact.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years of Volunteer management and/or community outreach experience required.
- Minimum two years of substantial event and/or project management experience required.
- Non profit experience preferred; at a minimum must exhibit passion for/interest in non-profit work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Central Florida community and its non-profit community preferred.
- Excellent listening, oral communication and public speaking skills required.
- Must be able to work well with people across various generations and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Must be able to take initiative, demonstrate leadership, work inter-dependently and produce consistently high quality work.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Prior experience with relational databases helpful.
