The National Resource Development Director (NRDD) will serve as the most senior fundraising leader for the organization, overseeing board, foundation, individual and corporate giving campaigns. He/she will manage a team of staff and work closely with the National Director (ND)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), executive directors and the board. In partnership with these stakeholders, the NRDD will create and lead the strategic-development plan that will allow World Vision South Africa to continue to support and cultivate its existing donor network, while also diversifying and growing that network to help fund its national expansion strategy. Fundraising: Donor Cultivation, Prospecting and Strategy Development
- Set up a highly qualified and efficient marketing unit, processes and systems.
- Ensure that the office is generating the resources that meets or exceeds the goals of the transition plan.
- Design and implement strategies to establish relationships and secure funding from a greater number of foundation, corporate, government and individual donor sources.
- Direct all activities, including identifying opportunities and prospecting, implementing targeted strategies for each opportunity, and soliciting and stewarding donors.
- Lead and implement a cohesive, targeted strategy to achieve revenue goals and diversifying sources of funding from both international grants(multinational and bilateral)and national funders.
- Lead and implement successful multi-platform digital fundraising strategies.
- Partner with the National Director and executive directors to support the board in building a strong record of fundraising success; inspire and support individual board members to maximize their fundraising impact.
- Develop and execute customer-centric onboarding, stewardship, retention and upsell treatments for new and existing donors.
- Work in partnership within the IT to develop required support systems and technologies to deliver on strategies and plans.
- Develop and leverage brand and brand campaigns to lift WV South Africa awareness and trust levels in public and with key audiences.
- Manage fundraising consultants and work with event planners to achieve event-specific fundraising goals and leverage events to deepen relationships with donors.
- Play a leading role in securing high-end sponsorships leading up to annual major fundraising event.
- Maintain effective communication with the ND and the board through periodic updates regarding progress towards goals, recent gifts/grants received, meetings planned and held, grant applications submitted, new funding prospects in the pipeline, and additional Department activities.
- Develop and oversee innovative and engaging donor-cultivation events, including targeted events.
External Relationship Management:
- Initiate new and deepen existing funder and donor relationships, ensuring a strong and diverse base of organizational supporters.
- Ensure that the donor promise is fulfilled and that there are clear and transparent donor communications.
- Oversee the initiation and tracking of grant proposals to targeted corporations and private foundations, while managing accountability reporting and follow-up for grants awarded and received.
- Work in partnership with other WV offices on fund opportunities, such as international grant acquisitions.
- Uphold the WVI brand, ensuring that all applicable WVI policies are fully complied with.
Departmental Leadership:
- Supervise and coach NRD Department staff directly.
- Work closely with ND to set and meet revenue targets and objectives.
- Prepare and monitor the NRD Department's annual expense budget and revenue forecasts, and provide accurate tracking and projections for budgetary and financial reports.
- Work with Finance and Program teams as cross-departmental partners to understand the ministry and its deliverables, ensure high quality proposals are submitted and all commitments to funders are fulfilled and reported on appropriately and timely.
- Effectively communicate all aspects of the Department's activities to relevant internal and external audiences.
- Work strategically and effectively with staff and consultants.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- The National Resource Development Director must have a track record of developing and implementing creative strategies for raising and diversifying funding.
- S/he should be a highly skilled fundraiser, with demonstrated success in strategically identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors on a regional basis and, ideally, with exposure to national funders.

- A minimum of seven years of fundraising experience, which includes a proven record of securing funding from a diverse mix of individual donors, foundations/trusts and corporates.
- Demonstrated experience raising R65 million or more annually.
- Exposure to a national network of donors and foundations.
- Experience in building and managing a business development department and mentoring business development staff and/or regional fundraisers toward increasing levels of success. Track record of building long-term, productive relationships with donors and foundations.
- Demonstrated ability for handling multiple, complex fundraising initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional written and editing skills.
- Strong oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and focus on excellence.
- Strong computer skills, knowledge of fundraising database and a strong working knowledge of social media and other online sales/marketing channels.

- Minimum 8-10 years in marketing and fundraising experience.
