This position is responsible for maintaining the United Way of Will County’s financial transparency and accountability through the preparation and monitoring of all financial information presented to our Donors, The President & CEO, the Board of Directors, United Way Worldwide and the Community. The individual will assist and advise the President & CEO in all matters of financial responsibility, and exercise authority as a representative of the organization on all fiduciary matters.
Areas of Responsibility:
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for Finance committee and board review.
- Maintain and administer investments at various financial institutions
- Manage ACH transfers for monthly agency allocations.
- Solicit bids for Annual Audit & Provide recommendation to Executive Board.
- Prepare financial information, schedules and reports for the annual independent audit, working closely with the auditors to assure an unmodified report.
- Provide any necessary help as requested by auditor.
- Maintain and track checking accounts with multiple financial institutions for various programs currently under our umbrella, providing monthly reporting, preparing deposits, issuing checks, invoices and assistance as needed to their governing bodies.
Accounts Receivable
- Receive all payments for pledges and /or services
- Prepare and make bank deposits
- Post & maintain detailed accounts receivable information
- Maintain ANDAR information on pledge designations, and distribute funds quarterly.
- Prepare billing invoices for all past due pledges on a quarterly basis.
- Prepare any additional reports as requested by President
Payroll & Human Resource
- Prepare semi-monthly employee payroll and ensure Payroll taxes are withheld & transmitted as mandated by state and federal agencies.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end payroll tax reports, including W-2s on an annual basis
Accounts Payable
- Prepare checks semi-monthly or as requested by President & CEO
- Maintain files and data of all accounts payable
- Prepare designation reports and issue checks to other United Ways on a quarterly basis
Agencies
- Review annual audits & tax returns for each agency
- Prepare allocation transfers for member agencies
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time by the President
Educational Background:
Bachelor degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial statement reporting, budgeting, and fund accounting.
- Excellent communication, research and analytical skills essential.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Other & Physical Requirements/ Work Environment
- Valid Illinois Driver’s license & required minimum insurance coverage.
- Employee must occasionally lift up to 35 pound storage boxes. Moderate level of mental and/or visual fatigue and/or eyestrain may result from looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Majority of activities are in an office environment. Occasional work outside of normal business hours.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $51,000 to $60,000 per year
