The Senior HIV/AIDS Treatment Specialist Advisor will be responsible for their specialty technical area, they will provide direction and be responsible for technical outcomes of the HIV/AIDS Treatment activity. The Specialist Advisors will share in the implementation of the technical principles guiding the program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist the Director, Clinical Services to provide technical leadership and technical support related to clinical management of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT
  • With the Director, Clinical Services and the clinical team, coordinate the design and implementation of HIV clinical care/ART and PMTCT in the program.
  • Provide technical assistance in HIV/AIDS clinical management and PMTCT capacity building to field programs.
  • Develop guidelines, tools and recommendations related to the implementation, evaluation of clinical management of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT
  • Contribute to development of lessons learned from programs and projects related to clinical management of HIV/AIDS, PMTCT and apply these lessons to modify existing and improve the design of the programs.
  • Represent the project to donors and government officials in Maputo on issues of clinical management of HIV/AIDS and PMTCT
  • Remain informed on current programs in the field of clinical management of HIV/AIDS and related development field by reviewing current literature.
  • Develop concept papers and research papers to improve and or extend existing studies in the management of HIV/AIDS activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
A medical degree or a doctoral level degree in public health or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 10 years of experience in clinical service delivery of HIV related interventions.
  • Strong skills in data use and interpretation.
  • Ability to perform at a senior policy level.
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level participating or advising in high level MOH meetings/discussions/boards.
  • Demonstrated ability in monitoring similar programs and interpreting and utilizing national level data.
  • Strong oral and written skills in Portuguese and English.
