The Make-A-Wish internship program is designed for current undergraduate or graduate students who have a goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the internship program is to help undergraduate and/or graduate students further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience.
The Development, Major Gifts Internship provides an opportunity to contribute to fundraising efforts as well as donor cultivation and stewardship initiatives conducted by the Major Gifts Team, within the Development department. The Major Gifts Team is responsible for developing, implementing and managing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for individuals and private foundations in order to strengthen relationships, enhance engagement and elevate giving.
Throughout the internship, duties and responsibilities could include:
- Working with Research to prepare the MG Team donor outreach & proposals
- Arranging small donor cultivation events in select markets
- Supporting donor relationship managers in scheduling donor meetings
- Assisting with donor communications, meeting preparation and follow-up
- Engaging in coordinated outreach to select donors
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of the non-profit sector, fundraising and event planning, either through coursework or professional experience
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently and clearly communicate information verbally and in writing
- Detail oriented and solution focused in executing projects/assignments
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with information
- Exceptional customer/donor service skills
- Some volunteer experience preferred, although not required
