The Job:
As a Youth Market Director , you will be responsible for implementing the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart events and other Youth programs along with our Wear Red Day initiatives in the New London, Middlesex, Windham County Markets. The Director will act as the American Heart Association liaison with schools in the territory and is responsible for achieving income and recruitment goals through the management of existing customers, and prospecting for and cultivating of new accounts.
In this role, you will report to Marissa our Youth Market VP for CT. Marissa has been with AHA for over 20 years and is a great manager to work for. Her staff love her so much that turnover under her leadership is very low and mostly due to retirements. You will join Marissa’s team of Youth Market Directors that includes: Eve P and Larry P and Susan M who work Long Island schools, as well as Kim, Stacia, and Susan D. who handle schools in CT. This position will be home based in one of the assigned markets listed above.
Required Skills
Ideal Candidate:
To be successful as a Youth Market Director we need you to bring your 3 plus years of experience in fundraising or corporate sales and your ability to build powerful partnerships. Experience selling in/to schools or school districts is highly desirable. We want people that want to get things done and can check their ego at the door. To help you be successful you will have access to our award-winning learning platform the American Heart University as well as our sales training & relationship development program- Building Powerful Partnerships which received a 2017 Learning! 100 Award from Elearning! Media Group, and various other training and support mechanisms locally and through our National Center.
If you are: friendly, social, outgoing, positive, passionate, cool under pressure, detail-oriented, deadline oriented, quick learner, multi-tasker, have a great sense of humor, aren’t scared to get your hands dirty and are willing to do what needs to be done to make things happen then we are looking for you. We move quickly, and our team doesn’t know the meaning of “not my job.”
Required Experience

You should have the ability to navigate the assigned territory mapping the best routes to schools assigned to you, the ability to engage school leaders and PE teachers to develop a passion for holding our events in their districts and schools, excellent verbal communication skills to address school assemblies and the ability to travel in your territory 80% of the day on a daily basis. Knowledge of school systems and communication practices is highly desirable.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
Experience: Must have at least 3 years of experience in fundraising, or outside sales. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
