The Executive Director of the St. Martin Community Center in Marion, Indiana, supervises the overall daily processes of a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity in a community with high rates of poverty, addiction, homelessness, and food insecurity.

Serves as a leader in representing the needs of the less fortunate within Grant County to drive change with the help of community partners. Identifies potential issues and proactively works with appropriate agencies to mitigate or solve challenges. This role is critical to making a difference in our community.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Manages the daily functions of the center which includes Kay’s Kitchen, Food Pantry, and Thrift Store which provides operational funding.  Receives and manages donations of all kinds, working in partnership with paid staff, the community, and volunteers.

Oversees the food delivery system for the kitchen which includes ensuring proper food safety, health department compliance, purchasing supplies and equipment, as well as receiving a myriad of donations from the community, and agencies like Second Harvest Food Bank, and United Way.

Manages financial responsibilities of the organization. Monitors all funds and deposits that are received for the charity to manage the set budget and provides monthly data to the accounting firm for preparation of financial statements.

Working manager of a diverse staff including volunteers with all HR needs including problem solving and conflict resolution. Partners closely with the Board of Directors with monthly meetings and organization strategy.

The Executive Director will need to complete training to become a certified food handler will complete all needed training to follow TEFAP (Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program). The Executive Director will also attend all meetings with the Second Harvest Food Bank and ensure all compliance requirements.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in social work, addiction services, program management, or pastoral education preferred
Skills/Experience: 

We are a faith-based organization and we are looking for strong support

  • Required 4 years of management experience required; 5 years of demonstrated successful ability in leading people
  • 3 years minimum of managing programs with preferred knowledge of related government programs
  • 2 years minimum of working with under-served populations
  • This is a very hands on role with the required ability to multi-task, work independently and take initiative.
  • Organization and time management is critical to run compliant, fair, and consistent operations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Compensation is commensurate with education and experience
