Areas of Responsibility: 

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), a national organization representing approximately 3,000 local health departments (LHDs) nationwide, has an immediate opening for a Full-time Lead Survey and Research Analyst.

The NACCHO R&E team is looking for an individual with critical thinking skills who can design, collect, analyze, and interpret survey and other primary and secondary research data, as well as communicate findings effectively to various audiences. This Lead Survey and Research Analyst will deliver day-to-day research support to NACCHO's program teams, local health departments, public health leaders, the CDC, and the public to make a difference in public health in a welcoming and inclusive environment!

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Survey and Research Analyst primarily responsible for the management, development and implementation of quantitative research projects for internal and external clients. The person is an individual contributor at the lead analyst level in a specific area of expertise and is accountable for professional functions and/or systems.

The Lead Analyst works with the Senior Director of R&E, Director of Research, and others to lead NACCHO's survey efforts, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of public health data.

The Lead Analyst is a career level professional and works with minimal supervision. The position requires proven analytical and project management capabilities. Occasional travel may be required to represent NACCHO at scientific or professional meetings or as required by project activities.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Leads quantitative research and analyses for major surveys of LHD infrastructure.
  • Supports qualitative research and analyses across program teams.
  • Uses secondary quantitative data sources to supplement quantitative survey data when appropriate.
  • Serves as a project lead and subject matter expert (SME) to other NACCHO programs for data collection activities, including use of specialized survey software (Qualtrics) across the organization, as well as a consult on or lead questionnaire design, data cleaning, and analysis plans.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and other relevant documentation for organizational survey and research data collection
  • Develops and manages data cleaning and analysis plans and codebooks, conducts quality assurance checks on data, performs statistical analyses, and develops reports/products on research and evaluation results.
  • Co-authors written products based on R&E-led studies, including methodology, charts, figures, and analytical text.
  • Acts as a consultant to other NACCHO staff by providing expertise on equity and data methods
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS/Undergraduate
Skills/Experience: 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in relevant professional field with a minimum of 8-10 years public health and or behavioral health work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including a relevant certification. Master's degree and certification in a relevant field preferred.

  • Demonstrated work experience with statistical programs and coding (Stata programming is specifically required in this role)
  • Demonstrated work experience in leading or managing major survey efforts
  • Experience with complex sampling of survey populations, including stratified sampling
  • Experience with survey weighting and post-stratification
  • Experience using and administering web-based survey systems (Qualtrics preferred)
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis (N-VIVO preferred)
  • Experience with GIS a plus, but not required
  • Ability to develop data collection instruments in paper and web-based formats

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $111,301 - $118,250
