Westar Institute, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is in search of a highly skilled Finance and Membership Manager to join our team and help us continue to fulfill our mission. This position manages day-to-day operational activities, including but not limited to all bookkeeping and accounting, database entry and management, membership retention and support, donor and fundraising management, and payroll and human resources.
Bookkeeping and accounting (40%)

Manage accounts payable and receivable in QuickBooks

Manage cash-flow needs

Manage all month-ending accounting, including reporting to the board of directors

Manage all year-end accounting, including working with an independent accounting firm to review and prepare the annual of IRS Form 990 (reviewed with Board prior to submission)

Manage book inventory and process book orders

Staff support to Finance Committee
Membership and database management (30%)

Manage all accounts in Neon CRM database

Manage membership renewals and benefits, including magazine subscriptions

Process membership and subscription reminder and renewal mailings
-
General membership support and customer service
-
Work with team to grow membership
Human resources/payroll (10%)

Run monthly payroll
-
Manage benefits: track holiday and vacation time, unemployment insurance and claims, workers’ compensation
Fundraising/Development (10%)

Donor management and donations processing

Management of planned giving program
-
Staff support to Development Committee
Misc. support (10%)

Processing mail and phone messages

Staff support at online events
-
Provide information and support to other staff and board directors as needed
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years’ professional experience required; master’s degree in nonprofit management or related field preferred.

Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel. Some knowledge of accounting is required.

At least 2 years’ experience with a CRM (customer relations management) software. Experience with Neon CRM preferred.

Experience managing and processing payroll.

Ability to provide quality customer service and to lead and balance work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated facility with presenting to and supporting board of directors and committees.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, flexible, and collaborative with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, and positive attitude.

Salary commensurate with experience ranges from 58,000 to 60,500 per annum.
