Under the supervision of the Dentistry Administrative Supervisor, the Dentistry Insurance Coordinator is responsible for a variety of office/clerical tasks relating to insurance benefits; contacts insurance companies for benefit breakdown; obtain authorizations when necessary; contacts patients to discuss insurance benefits/payments, and to complete insurance checks and patient reminder call in adherence to the current dental policy. The Insurance Coordinator will also be required to assist with front-end operations as part of regular schedule when needed.
Representative Duties:
1. Contact Insurance companies for benefit breakdowns
- Contacts insurance companies via phone or web
- Input data received into patients file
2. Contacts patients to discuss insurance benefits and related insurance coordination payments; pre-authorizations
- Contact patients reminding them of their appointments while answering patients inquiries outlining benefits for treatment plans
3. Assist front end
- Greet each client with a smile and welcoming, professional manner
- Answer each phone call in a cheerful and professional manner
- At all times maintain patient confidentiality, speak in quiet tones at the desk with colleagues and clients and behave appropriately for a highly visible position
- Perform reception duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner
- Follow established policies for appointment scheduling, patient registration and all front desk operations
4. Performs other related job duties as required
• Minimum of 2 years office experience
• Previous customer service experience
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to navigate and use available technology, including but not limited to, dental insurance portals
• Ability to handle high call volume, in addition to assigned work load, with an ability to pay attention to detail
• Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Knowledge of business procedures desired.
• Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
• Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals and patient population required
