What we're looking for: We are looking for a compassionate and creative individual to work as a full-time (35 hours per week) Arts and Wellness Activity Specialist in our Winter Park adult day health care center, which serves adults with disabilities, dementia related disorders or other memory impairment conditions. The Arts and Wellness Activity Specialist is responsible for assisting the Activities Director with the overall coordination, enhancement, and implementation of the arts and wellness programming. The work schedule for the Arts and Wellness Activity Specialist is 9:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Basic Responsibilities:
What you'll be doing:
- Assisting in conducing research to locate program opportunities, creative engagement activities and staff training/certification opportunities to incorporate and enhance the adult day health care arts and wellness program the Activities Director in developing the monthly calendar of activities to stimulate interaction, promote constructive leisure time, and motivate the members to function at their maximum level of independence
- Assisting the Activities Director with the strategic planning of the arts and wellness program
- Facilitating arts and welllness, therapeutic, recreational and person-centered activities and infusing the arts into all aspects of adult day care
- Assisting the Activities Director or Program Analyst on any grant implementation, outcomes, data collection, and any other deliverables associated to grants or any program activities
- Conducting community outreach, in coordination with the Activities Director, for arts and wellness connections, partnerships, and grants
- Completing required activity-related documentation
- Assisting with the preparation of snacks and meals, providing personal care and maintaining the safety of the members
- Answering inquiries about the adult day services program and providing tours that effectively communicate the scope of the program
- Supervising program volunteers, including providing tours and ensuring volunteer documentation is completed and submitted
Qualifications:
What we value:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience providing care to persons with disabilities, dementia or other memory related disorders
- Knowledge, skills and abilities in arts and wellness programming
- An energetic creative and professional individual who will portray and promote a positive, respectful, and team-based environment
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Training on Alzheimer's Disease or Related Disorders, as well as Elder Abuse and Neglect training, is a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed to meet the needs of the program
