Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a nonprofit organization providing programs and services for individuals with disabilities. We provide programs and services to more than 17,000 children and adults with special needs in the western and central Pennsylvania area.
The Easterseals Lance and Ellen Shaner Child Development Center (CDC) in State College, PA, is committed to bringing high-quality, state of the art, inclusive early care and education to families in Centre County. We are currently looking to hire Personal Care Aides to work at our CDC. A Personal Care Aide is responsible for aiding pre-school students with physical, cognitive and social delay in developing their self-sufficiency, communication, interpersonal, and mobility skills. In addition, a Personal Care Aide encourages, supports, and educates young children by assisting them in the performance of daily living activities necessary for their comfort, well-being, and integrity. The duties of a Personal Care Aide include any activities that allow the student to participate to their maximum capacity and in the least restrictive environment. Personal Care Aides generally provide individual services to a child.
At our CDC we provide a nurturing environment in which typically developing children and children with varying needs learn and grow together. We are part of the Keystone STARS Quality Initiative Program. Children ages six weeks through prekindergarten age participate in one of our four integrated classrooms. At our CDC, children are afforded the opportunity to explore their spacious classrooms, participate in small and large group activities, expend their energy on the playground or riding bikes, and so much more.
Our CDC is open Monday-Friday. This job opportunity is a part-time position. Hours are generally 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday (12 hours/week). There is no weekend, evening or holiday work. This Personal Care Aide will be required to work only on days when the assigned child is in attendance at the Child Development Center. Children generally attend the program 41 weeks of the year.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Experience working with children required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check required.
- Acceptable Child Abuse History Clearance required.
- Acceptable FBI Clearance required.
- Acceptable Act 168 required.
- Passing of physical examination and TB required.
