The Specialist, Fundraising U.S. Programs and Advocacy will serve as a project manager, liaising with fundraising, finance and program colleagues to support the annual fundraising strategy for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs & Advocacy (USPA) division. The Specialist will report to the USPA Director, Resource Development and will focus in three areas: donor relations support, with a particular emphasis on USPA’s portfolio of individual donors and prospects, fundraising strategy and operations, and special projects. This position will be a good fit for an energetic person who enjoys working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Initiative and the ability to drive projects through to completion are key attributes for the role, as are excellent writing skills with a particular strength in relaying information in a concise and persuasive manner.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Donor Relations Support – 40%

  •  Serve as a direct liaison to the Individual Philanthropy Group (IPG) team to identify linkages between individual giving and USPA’s fundraising priorities.
  •  Help maximize individual partnership opportunities for USPA and serve as a program knowledge resource to the IPG team.
  •  Support the IPG team’s communication efforts for USPA donors and prospects, such as proposal and report submissions, framing our work in a way that meets donor needs/interests.

Fundraising Strategy & Operations – 40%

  •  In collaboration with fundraising, finance and program colleagues, manage and maintain the integrity of the USPA individual pipeline and keep abreast of donor reporting obligations and deadlines.
  • Assist with revenue projections, tracking and reconciliation.
  • Research new funding prospects, funding trends and industry developments.
  • Work with fundraising and program colleagues to develop diversified fundraising strategies to meet defined financial goals.
  • Generate fundraising materials and presentations to provide updates at various meetings with internal stakeholders.

Special Projects – 20%

  • Contribute towards the implementation of USPA’s strategic fundraising plans as required and assigned by the Director.
  • Perform other duties as may be required for the benefit of the team.
Educational Background: 
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in fundraising or project management.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office package.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in development / fundraising department of a nonprofit organization.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management databases (e.g., Blackbaud).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work productively and proactively, both independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Flexibility in approach and willingness to adapt when necessary.
