Basic Responsibilities:

• Support clients with personal needs as required, medication management, toileting, personal hygiene care.

• Support clients with volunteer and work opportunities that are provided within the community.

• Plan and implement daily learning activities.

• Supervise clients on and off site.

• Assist with organization and set up of the day program environment, preparing needed materials and supplies.

• Participate and support wheelchair clients in social outings both in-house and in the community.

• Act as a role model of appropriate behaviors for clients in the various community settings.

• Participate in meetings and team member development activities as required.

• Complete and maintain all required documentation and case file work for the first 30 days.

• Assist in completing daily client time cards.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace for clients.

• Ensure a safe environment for clients while in-house and community locations.

• Provide daily transportation to/from work and community social outings, as needed.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.

• Experience working with people who have disabilities preferred.

• Certified in CPR (Adult and Child), First Aid or ability to receive certification during first six 90 days

• Ability to successfully complete Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse within first 30 days.

• Ability to pass Relational Mandt training.

• Ability to obtain and maintain Iowa Class D Chauffeur’s driver’s license.

• Ability to successfully pass a Medication Management course as needed.

• Must be insurable under Easter Seals Iowa vehicle insurance policy.

• Desire to work in a team environment.

• Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines.

• Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.

• Ability to write complete sentences and utilize appropriate grammar.

• Ability to operate a computer and navigate through the Easter Seals Iowa database.

• Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred.

• Ability to bend, stoop, twist and lift

• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of 80 pounds.

• Access to reliable transportation for regular participation at work.
