Under the direct supervision of the Child Development Center Director, the Food Service Attendant is responsible for the preparation of nutritionally balanced meals, cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas and maintaining inventory and stocking of food and supply items as per the guidelines established by the Center and the State.
Basic Responsibilities:
1. Weekly prepares and disseminates well-balanced, nutritious menus within USDA, CACPP and licensing guidelines.
2. Prepares and delivers meals and snacks to the students on time and with the proper amount of utensils and supplies.
3. Maintains kitchen equipment and food inventory.
4. Orders needed food and supplies as delegated by the CDC Director.
5. Assists with the completion of required documentation and reporting for the Child Care Food Program.
6. Follows all requirements and guidelines for food service delivery to include cleanliness of the kitchen and cafeteria, food storage and proper marking of food products, food inventory levels and use of food, personal hygiene and completion of associated paperwork.
7. Date groceries immediately upon delivery.
8. Attends and is a part of in-services and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
• High School Degree
• Must hold a current food handlers/preparation permit
• One or more years’ experience preparing food for a large group of children, and proven experience and comfort level working with children with special needs
• General understanding of nutrition and nutritional values
• Good communication skills with proven comfort level communicating with teachers or other caregivers of children
• Good time management skills, excellent follow through abilities and detail oriented.
• Ability to work well with others and in a team environment.
• Bilingual capabilities desired.
