The Employment Consultant (EC) works to place individuals with developmental disabilities in community-based jobs by developing, implementing, assessing, modifying and communicating approved individualized plans while maintaining determined financial outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service
- Primary responsibility is to meet desired outcomes on behalf of those served
- Utilizes the Discovery process to identify a stakeholder team, assess individual’s areas of interest, and define potential employment themes
- Attends Plan meetings to develop written Individualized Plans with the individual, their DD case manager and stakeholder team which identifies specific, meaningful, measurable goals
- Evaluates the individual’s skills through multiple work experiences
- Identifies possible employment support needs or accommodations when required for successful employment placement
- Teaches and trains participants in job search strategies
- Secures paid employment for participants
- Assists in coordinating ACCESS and/or other transportation methods when required
- Maintains positive communication with client and stakeholders during entire process
Marketing and Community Relations
- Excellence in work is mandatory as it contributes to an exemplary reputation for Easterseals
- Identifies potential employers incorporating Discovery employment themes
- Markets client strengths and skills to potential employers
- Conducts job and task analyses to determine basic elements of task(s) performed
- Assists the individual in performing the work tasks to foster independence and promote fading
- Identifies natural supports in the workplace for potential job support, transportation and social connections
- Provides on-site job coaching at paid employment site
- Presents awareness of disability rights, ADA accommodations, and natural supports while maintaining knowledge of disability employment trends
Program Development/Fiscal Accountability
- Communicates clear and concise information verbally and in writing
- Maintains client records and documentation meeting all deadlines
- Provides clear and accurate billing and reports
- Achieves monthly billable outcomes
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two years college coursework or degree in marketing, vocational rehabilitation, sales or personnel, psychology, or sociology preferred
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Valid WA State Driver’s license
- Acceptable 5-year driving abstract
- Proof of insurance
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and navigating the internet
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have private transportation/a reliable vehicle that can be used on the job when required
- Candidates must pass a background check prior to employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Most duties will be carried out in the community and in different business environments
- Will travel locally
- Flexible schedule of availability including evening, holiday and/or weekend hours
- May assist individuals with restroom routines
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, bend, stretch, and twist
