Summary:Under general guidance, provides implementation and support of database maintenance and report writing for various SQL database applications. Relies upon technical, analytical, organization, and communications skills to understand business requirements and intents for the purpose of meeting or exceeding requests with solutions. Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and implements solutions to maintain high performance databases and reports. Evolves to meet the organization’s business intelligence needs, creating connectivity across multiple databases.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with end users to understand reporting requirements and uses report writing software to create a variety of simple to complex reports (e.g., standard/ad hoc reporting, dashboards, scorecards, visualization, and analytics)
- Identifies best practices and suggests ways to improve current practices and develop recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business reporting needs
- Provides appropriate service, support, training, and advice to end users regarding the capabilities and functions of the reporting software, along with technical and application issues
- Supports new and existing reports, including alterations and migrations. Produces ad hoc reports as required
- Conducts audits of database consistent with established database management principles, and makes recommendations regarding data collection, warehousing, management, and retrieval procedures
- Optimizes reports for maximum re-usability and minimal database resource usage
- Typically requires a B.S. Degree in Computer Science, or related field plus 5-7 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and expertise to perform the job successfully
- 3-5 years’ of SQL database management and report writing experience, including stored procedure development and maintenance, advanced SQL queries, and working knowledge of linked servers
- Expert analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to identify and resolve performance issues
- Ability to maintain customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions communicating effectively with leadership, peers, and end users
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload independently
- Ability to collaborate in a project team environment with commitment to deadlines
- Ability to interpret and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations
- Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements.
