The Manager, Community Partnerships recruits, trains, and manages community volunteers for long-term engagement in United Way Suncoast’s (UWS) impact in Manatee. The position reports to the Director, Strategic Impact and collaborates with the Senior Manager, Neighborhood Strategies to identify, post and manage impact volunteer opportunities in Manatee County. This position is an integral part of implementing The Big Plan in schools and the community.  The Big Plan is a UWS Community Impact initiative that addresses grade-level reading for children ages 0-9 in their homes, early learning centers, elementary schools and their neighborhoods.  English/Spanish speaking required. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Collaborates with Senior Manager, Neighborhood Strategies position to manage The Big Plan activities in schools before and after the school day held on campus.  Provides oversight of collaborative network of Out-of-School programs.
  • Recruits, trains and manages Impact and Engagement Volunteerism for The Big Plan activities, including programs such as ReadingPals, LearningPals, SummerPals and Reading Rooms.
  • Conducts specialized volunteer training for Impact Volunteerism, addressing topics including cultural competency and social and emotional skills.
  • Provides the Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (SCGLR) with Manatee related content for SCGLR website and implements and manages pilot programs.  Collaborates with SCGLR position at School District.
  • Completes ReadingPals grant requirements, including meeting data reporting deadlines.   
  • Designs, develops and executes family engagement activities and measurements for success.
  • Attends School District Manatee County events as appropriate (Soar in 4 events and trainings, etc.).
  • Manages relationships and outcomes with School District data position and UWS Manager, Data and Outcomes.
  • Promotes community awareness of volunteering by creatively using technology, social media and other means.
  • Interacts extensively with many departments throughout the organization, with the nonprofit sector, and the public, private and voluntary sectors of the community.
  • Works with Director, Strategic Impact to develop detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation to deliver assigned projects as planned.
  • Works with UWS Manager, Data and Outcomes to ensure appropriate program data is tracked and reported as required.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four- year college or university in Education, Public or Business administration, Community Relations, or related field preferred.
Skills/Experience: 

The following represent the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential job duties. 

  • 3 years’ experience in community service activities or education (an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with volunteers. 
  • Must be available to work outside normal business hours.

Interpersonal Skills:  Strong active listening, coordination, facilitation, social perceptiveness skills necessary.  Must be proficient in building productive professional/working relationships with diverse individuals and facilitating conversations with them.

Computer Skills:  Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software – primarily Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and Hands-On.  Must have the ability to learn internal mandated software; e.g., Andar.
