Work with United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) staff and volunteer teams to carry out UWNNS’s mission to link the community’s will and resources to improve lives. This position’s primary responsibility is to manage the development and implementation of UWNNS’s AmeriCorps grant. The position will work with UWNNS’s leadership to ensure compliance and progress monitoring. The ideal candidate will have program development and management skills. This is a grant-based position and continuation of employment is dependent on AmeriCorps program funding in year two.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop an AmeriCorps program for UWNNS’s service area focused on early literacy and school readiness
- Define and develop the theory of change for how program activities will lead to long term results, including performance measures and outcomes
- Manage AmeriCorps grant(s), e.g. submitting all grant requirements, tracking grant performance measurement, program development, relationship with Nevada Volunteers, and submission of AmeriCorps grant for 2020/2021 funding to implement program
- Recruit and manage AmeriCorps members
- Design and lead AmeriCorps members’ orientation, training, and professional development
- Assist in the development and implementation of communication, marketing, evaluation and strategic plans for UWNNS’s Community Impact strategy
- Maintain and develop relationships with key community partners
- Assist with securing required matching funds for AmeriCorps grants
- Develop an understanding and stay current with social and community issues
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively represent UWNNS in the community by engaging and maintaining contacts with local organizations, businesses, and individuals
- Clearly communicate the organization’s mission, values and resource development opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred
Skills/Experience:
- Experience with AmeriCorps program, federal grant management, and program development
- Experience managing data collection and reporting
- Experience managing budgets
- At least one year of staff management experience
- High-level organization and management skills
- Knowledge of standard office technology, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work individually and as a team member
- Detail oriented
- Have reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and auto insurance
- Ability to pass a background check
