Donor Engagement Manager

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Donor Engagement Manager based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a comprehensive donor engagement plan to ensure that donors and volunteers experience consistent, high-quality interactions with the AHA. Responsible for planning and overseeing programs and activities for major donors, including the production of reporting tools and templates. Responsible for development and execution of recognition and engagement events for major gifts and individual giving donors, as well as events designed for specific donor groups, leadership councils and volunteer committees. Also responsible for the development and implementation of communication tools to engage and recognize donors and volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Partner with Volunteerism and Development Field staff to provide appropriate donor and volunteer stewardship through the development and production of impact reports, report templates, print and digital communications, and the creation of meaningful engagement and cultivation opportunities
  • In partnership with Major Gifts and Individual Giving staff, manage the execution of activities, events, and projects related to personalized stewardship plans, intended to positively shape and impact a donor's or volunteer's experience with the Association and foster personal investment in AHA's strategic initiatives, beginning at the time of engagement and growing throughout the donor’s or volunteer's lifetime.
  • Maintain detailed electronic records for all stewardship related projects, including managing tracking of special engagement opportunities, events created for major gifts and individual giving donors, and Cor Vitae members, and monitoring stewardship records and stewardship reporting schedules. Proofread, fact-check, and edit colleagues’ work as needed.
  • Manage the execution of National Center Cor Vitae activities and events for major donors, including Honored Guest Day
  • Manage additional donor and volunteer stewardship and engagement projects as requested. Manage daily details of these special projects as they arise, coordinating the work of all involved parties to ensure that projects are completed on time, are of the highest quality, and are within budget
  • Manage the creation of customized recognition gifts and other one of a kind stewardship pieces for major donors. Contract and manage vendor relationships
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three (3) years of experience managing private and specialized recognition events and meetings
  • Three (3) years of experience working with volunteers and donors
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multi-task, and set priorities
  • Strong writer with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Solid computer skills with the capability to master new software applications and technologies, including database management. Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint skills required.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a fundraising or non-profit setting
  • Knowledge and experience working with social media tools.
