Director of Distribution - Emergency Cardiovascular Care

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Distribution in our Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) department based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, TX!

This position provides the strategic direction for the ECC product distribution model and for leading the continuous improvement of procedures and operational aspects of ECC product distribution. This individual will manage the relationship with the ETC Distributor and the product Fulfillment Service Provider, coordinate with the AHA staging warehouse or material resource center and oversee the external customer support vendor. This individual will effectively communicate and work with an internal cross functional team involving marketing, product development, finance, digital operations, project management, training, customer service, information technology, legal and communications to provide the continuous improvement to ECC product distribution.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • In conjunction with the Sr. Global Distribution Manager, manage the entirety of ECC’s domestic Distribution program through a Fulfillment Service Provider (FSP) ensuring all aspects of customer’s orders are processed promptly and accurately. Leads continuous improvement initiatives by building and maintaining procedures for the timely and cost-efficient distribution of ECC Products. Responsibilities include managing product inventory levels at FSP, managing inventory levels at AHA’s staging warehouse distribution center, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, management of shipping and receiving, quote and order management while monitoring status and development of ECC products. Manages relationship and business processes with Fulfillment Service Provider including Customer Service
  • Serves as AHA’s ECC liaison for our Entrepreneurial Training Center (ETC) distributor ensuring orders are processed promptly and accurately, sales are only made to ETC customers, inventory is maintained, and sales reporting is completed according to schedule. Works with ETC distributor to improve all processes for AHA, distributor and customers. Partners strategically with ETC Distributor to maximize sales within this business segment
  • Reviews, enhances and monitors all processes associated with direct to AHA customer orders to ensure they are accurately captured, reported on, transferred to FSP, invoiced, collected and delivered
  • Responsible for developing, submitting, and managing the budget supporting AHA’s ECC Distribution processes and program
  • Maintains cross functional communication within the AHA to address issues and has weekly communications with the ETC distributor and FSP. Manages a team of staff and effectively negotiates on AHA’s behalf with FSP and Distributor which includes contract management
  • Works with international staff to enhance processes for international distribution
  • Collaborates with ECC Marketing to evaluate pricing, discounts and rebate schedules to maximize revenue, surplus while increasing market penetration of AHA ECC products
  • Liaisons with ECC Finance to manage revenue, revenue reclassifications, process documentation. Collaborates and consults with ECC Leadership in goal setting, budget management
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with budgeting, goal development, forecasting and process development. Basic to advanced understanding of accounting and budgeting concepts
  • Strong multi-program computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Access and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written knowledge of English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience/familiarity with online purchasing systems
  • Ability to travel up to 25% local and overnight stay

Preferred Experience:

  • International Distribution experience
  • Printer, warehouse, and distribution management
  • Experience in contract preparation (business side)
  • Developing processes to improve efficiencies; documenting the processes
