Fundraising Director, Dance

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Fundraising Program Director - Dance, reporting up to the Innovation Team at National Center in Dallas, TX. Ideally the person selected for this opportunity will live in the Boston area and will work with schools in the Boston market.In this role you will be responsible for recruiting and implementing the American Heart Association's American Heart Challenge Dance event, working with the American Dance Movement, founded by Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman, to recruit middle schools and high schools. You will work with school administrative leaders and faculty, to raise funds through our educational fundraising program.

This is a fast-paced sales type of position with early morning start times.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Key responsibilities include selling ourlifesaving mission to local schools through prospecting and securing school participation while providing tools and training to help schools establish and meet their fundraising goals.
  • This position has a fundraising net goal this year of approximately $250k+. You must exceed challenging fundraising goals by developing effective customer relationships with school administration through persuasion, organization, competitiveness, persistence and time management.
  • This position requires you to be in the territory 90% of your time while driving to approximately 10 schools a day. This is a work out of your home position that requires daily travel throughout the designated territory.
Educational Background: 
Must have earned a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for a college degree

  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-pace work environment
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in territory.
  • Prior sales experience preferred.
  • Applied knowledge and intermediate skills in Windows applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook and database tools to enter data as requested.
  • Demonstrated skills in strong oral communication and ability to speak publicly.
  • Knowledge of school systems a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as position demands.
  • Ability to work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Satisfactory background check that includes motor vehicle and criminal history.
  • Dance background a plus.
