The position will lead the grant management team for a consortium. He/she is the principle focal point with donors and other stakeholders regarding grant management issues, coordinating cross departmental, multi-agency teams to ensure timely, high quality reporting and to response to donor and other stakeholders’ queries. He/she will lead (re)design of new phases of grants and coordinate start-up workshops to support smooth transition from design to implementation. The position will develop/update tools to manage a portfolio of grants from various donors, establishing mechanisms to track program performance, improve coordination/collaboration with others and ensure key performance milestones are met. He/she will support the Chief of Party and Program Development & Quality Assurance Director to enhance visibility of the Consortium through attendance at external forum and the development of impact stories and marketing materials to promote the image of the consortium amongst donors, peers, and international community.
Programming Management and Redesign:
- Pro-actively coordinate cross-functional, multi-agency teams to provide timely, quality donor reports;
- Mobilize and lead cross-functional, multi-agency teams to address donor and other stakeholder queries regarding grant performance and other important events;
- With the support of M&E Manager- regularly apply learning, emerging innovations, and best practices from project evaluations, field visit reports, project reports across the program, and from other NGOs and donors to new design;
- Develop/maintain tools to track multi-donor portfolio (grant tracker) and mechanism to ensure that key milestone are met
Program marketing, reporting & donor compliance:
- Travel to the field and develop consortium success stories, package them for various audience and platforms and share to enhance the visibility of programming;
- Support monitoring and bring up implementation or compliance challenges with QA, Ops Managers, and donors.
External Engagement and competitive intelligence gathering:
- Establish or strengthen linkages and networks with key resilience actors and leading NGOs to gather donor intelligence and build collaborative relationships;
- Work in tandem with the Chief of Party and PDQA Director in representing the consortium in external forums;
- Assist CoP to organize and coordinate events and forums as required;
Field support:
- Plan and lead program redesign and start-up workshop or process to ensure comprehensive hand-over of project to Project Manager and wider grant project teams;
- Use meetings and other forums to engage with operations staff to gather emerging challenges, lessons learned, and innovations to apply to future proposals;
- As required, support Operations in implementation challenges with hands-on capacity building and support in the field;
- Support consortium partners to develop networks with other NGOs and UN agencies to ensure basic services and scalable social safety net is in place in Consortium locations;
Develop & Implement Appropriate People Capabilities System
- Good quality staff are attracted, retained and developed in the organization;
- Effective line management and coaching to Program Officers, ensuring a shared vision, team work, effective communication and active engagement in decision-making and coordination approaches;
- Ensure effective people management systems are in place, monitored, and in-use;
- Cultivate an atmosphere of mentorships, especially for local Somali staff of implementing partners cultivated;
- or (at minimum) 4-years’ experience working in a humanitarian or development field, preferably with one or more previous assignments in developing contexts.
- Training in humanitarian standards is desirable with specific training in donor requirements e.g. OFDA, DFID, EuropeAid.
- Excellent English Language skills;
- Strong aptitude for organizational change, participatory and servant leadership, innovation, learning, team building;
- Ability to link professional, academic and community-based learning models;
- Experience in appraisal/Participatory Learning & Action, PEP, Appreciative Inquiry, etc.;
- Full computer and Internet skills including MS Office for word processing, graphic presentation
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proven experience in networking with donors and partners to bring about funding opportunities.
- Ability to establish and cultivate strong, collaborative relationships
- The ability to mobilize and work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize cross-functional proposal team (technical, ops, field, finance, M&E, Regional/HQ) with right staff at the right time to meet even the tightest deadlines. Can also effectively mobilize multi-partner proposal development teams
