SCAN of Northern Virginia seeks a high-energy, detail-oriented people-person with volunteer management experience and experience in child welfare or victim advocacy as well as fluent Spanish and English skills to join our CASA Program team. The Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA Program recruits, trains, supervises and supports volunteer advocates for abused or neglected children as their cases proceed through the court system. The CASA Case Supervisor’s primary responsibilities are to supervise assigned caseload of volunteers, edit their court reports, and coordinate CASA volunteer recruitment (especially targeted efforts to recruit bilingual volunteer), volunteer interviews, and pre-service training.
About the Organization: SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia was founded in 1988 to promote the well-being of children, improve parent-child relations and prevent child abuse and neglect through education, public awareness and advocacy. SCAN is the only Northern Virginia organization dedicated exclusively to education and advocacy for child abuse prevention throughout the Northern Virginia region. SCAN builds hope for children and families by implementing effective, evidence-based prevention programs. In the past year, SCAN advocated for some of the most vulnerable children who have been abused or neglected through its Alexandria/Arlington Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program; strengthened hundreds of families through Parent Education efforts; and educated thousands of community members via Public Education efforts throughout Northern Virginia.
About the Program: SCAN's Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program recruits, trains, supports, and supervises volunteer advocates who are matched to abused and neglected children and other children at risk as their cases proceed through the Alexandria and Arlington Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts, to give voice and advocacy to their needs and priorities, one child at a time.
