A newly formed digital content management subsidiary of United Way Worldwide has been created to help non-profit organizations tell extraordinary stories, enhance transparency and deepen community connections. This is a part of a large-scale, digital transformation within one of the largest non-profit organizations in the world.

Join our full-service production team and deliver content in multiple formats in partnership with our clients across the world. Our vision is to enhance transparency and deepen community connections that is required by today’s donors so we can all focus on the critical mission: providing solutions and along the way, finding purpose.

We are seeking experienced writers/editors to brainstorm, write, edit, and create content for our customers (currently 35 Local United Ways). Our writer/editor's ability to adapt to our client's voice and support goals through well-written articles is essential for driving our and their philanthropic success. With that in mind, writers will pitch ideas, brainstorm, write and edit original content with and for our clients, ensuring content is high quality and on-brand and hyper localized.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Brainstorm and pitch original story ideas
  • Enjoy collaborating with point of contacts across the country to infuse content with local details
  • Write high-quality original content that aligns with local United Way initiatives
  • Edit original content for quality and clarity
  • Collaborate with others in United Way to create and execute strategies for various campaigns including local charity capping needs, content syndication, and one-off initiatives
  • Create strategies for contents/assets targeting specific personas
  • Collaborate with various internal subject matter experts including social scientists, social engineers, and researchers to find creative ways to articulate United Way's benefits and differentiators
  • Ensure the voice and vision of the content created matches brand and quality standards- Ensuring editorial quality throughout digital and offline content to ensure brand voice, style, and tone is consistent
  • Responsible for content KPIs (to be set) that align with donation and campaign goals
  • Build and execute a media strategy to promote a sense of community and trust among audiences, finding new ways of conveying United Way's purpose
  • Given the start-up environment, support other marketing and sales initiatives as needs arise
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience writing professionally or freelance, with a publishing history
  • Have familiarity with digital marketing space and enthusiasm for working with non-profit brands
  • Understand tone and voice, and have the ability to adapt content to a client’s specific tone
  • Be able to concisely communicate with editorial strategists and colleagues about original content
