The OC Free Tax Prep campaign educates the community about the Earned Income Tax Credits and tax benefits, as well as, offers free tax preparation services to low and moderate income taxpayers throughout Orange County by implementing the IRS VITA program and by encouraging the use of self-filing through MyFreeTaxes.com. The Campaign is a partnership with the IRS and over 30 local organizations. The Campaign is part of Orange County United Way’s Income strategies, which assists residents in becoming financially independent by focusing on education and services that build financial stability.
Purpose:
- To increase awareness of the state and federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) and OC Free Tax Prep services among the low to moderate income communities. Results expected: increased number of taxpayers receiving EITC and using free tax prep services.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Project Manager, the EITC Education and Outreach Coordinator will develop, implement, and report on vital components for the OC Free Tax Prep Campaign, focusing on education and outreach. Candidate will be in the community giving presentations, staffing the outreach table, and building relationships. Candidate must have strong, professional, project coordination and communication skills. Focus of responsibilities will include (and are not limited to):
- Creation, coordination and implementation of outreach plan and education activities
- Project coordination of marketing and communication activities
- Development and distribution of outreach materials
- Planning and implementation of special events, such as Mega Tax Days
- Execute in-person outreach in target areas engaging prospective partners building awareness of Campaign goals and services to leverage communication channels
- Complete VITA training and certification in accordance with IRS and Campaign requirements
- Coordinate outreach activities in accordance with grant agreement, managing grant milestones and goals, data collection and grant reporting.

- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays
- Fluent bilingual English and Spanish
