The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) manages United Way of El Paso County’s volunteer engagement platform (VolunteerElPaso.org) and Young Leaders Society and RISE donor network. The CEC also oversees the community-wide goals, and implements a plan for impact in UWEPC’s primary focus areas of Access to Health and Financial Stability.
Areas of Responsibility:
Donor Networks (Affinity Groups)
- Manage and lead United Way Young Leaders Society and RISE:
- Establish and maintain staff support of all levels of leadership involvement (Advisory Board, Planning Committee(s), etc.).
- Provide staff leadership and/or support for year-round engagement and activity plan:
- Speaker Series,
- Volunteer projects,
- Networking events.
- Create and implement a fundraising strategy.
- Develop, coordinate and execute comprehensive social media efforts i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
- Timely entry of member information into data management system.
- Research and develop new affinity groups to engage targeted communities.
VolunteerElPaso.org
- Maintain VolunteerElPaso.org website content including updating:
- volunteer opportunities,
- agency wish lists, and
- submitted volunteer hours.
- Maintain relationships with community partners to develop ongoing volunteer opportunities.
- Identify and cultivate new organizations/agencies to provide ongoing volunteer opportunities.
- Develop strategies to increase the number of registered users and logged volunteer hours.
- Coordinate participation in community, volunteer or health fairs.
- Organize training event(s) for non-profit agency staff.
Community Impact Agenda
- Oversee the implementation of the Community Impact Agenda for priority areas Access to Health and Financial Stability, to include:
- Management of strategies and “products.”
- Management of the Community Impact funding and interim review process.
- Liaison with funded agencies and grant funded partners.
- Assess community information assets and needs, and direct initiatives to address development and dissemination of information related to health and human services.
- Identify and recruit a diverse and dynamic group of business, academic and community change leaders to support UWEPC’s Community Impact Agenda.
- Collect and track key data points related to priority areas Access to Health and Financial Stability.
- Timely entry of information into data management system(s)
Resource Development
- Directly manage a portfolio of approximately 15-20 workplace giving accounts.
- Develop and cultivate successful business/personal relationships with key employees and CEOs, where accessible, in assigned accounts.
- Identify, cultivate and engage prospects and donors.
- In assigned accounts, work with other staff to create strategies to prospect, cultivate, solicit and grow overall giving, including leadership level giving.
- Evaluate and monitor each campaign's progress. Identify potential problems and report to staff and volunteer leadership.
- Develop partnerships between accounts and United Way that result in increased participation in United Way led volunteer events, sponsorships, gifts-in-kind, special events and corporate engagement.
- Timely entry of account information into data management system.
Community Engagement
- Work effectively with other teams at United Way to provide appropriate support and value to partners. Leverage relationships to create additional opportunities with other organizations and individuals.
- Foster creative thinking and facilitate future partnerships within corporate accounts.
- Attend key community events and activities as a way to promote United Way of El Paso County’s mission, vision and core values to become a defined community ambassador for United Way.
- Cultivate community support for United Way by maintaining contacts with local organizations, businesses and individuals.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in subjects related to public relations, communications, marketing, or social services, plus two years of volunteer or work experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the duties of the position.
Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of the non-profit sector is a plus. Successful candidate must also embody personal attributes of honesty, integrity, professional behavior, tact, sense of urgency, and sense of humor.
- Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills; and strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications,
- Intermediate knowledge of social media platforms i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
- Must possess the ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic plans with multiple, complex tasks and projects.
- Deep understanding of program performance measurement techniques, performance metrics, and evaluation principles.
- Valid Texas or New Mexico driver’s license, insurance and vehicle required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000 to $40,000 per year
