The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a (Part-Time 10-15 hours per week) Vice President of Development – Training and Consulting . The primary focus is to develop and manage the affiliate’s event revenue execution plan for three major fundraising campaigns - Heart Walk (HW), Heart Ball (HB), and Go Red For Women (GRFW). Providing oversight and direction of the core event campaigns and support with consulting, training and business intelligence.

Consulting duties include management of a Heart Walk and a Socials Consultant, oversight and business intelligence of Heart Walk, Heart Ball and GRFW campaigns, providing team strategy and direction, alignment of tools and resources to meet strategies outlined, ensure development operations functions are efficient, innovative and aligned with national and overarching affiliate goals. Primarily responsible for the tactics and business intelligence for core event campaigns. Position will also directly consult with top market events including providing leadership with event gaps, planning and evaluations, market visits and ongoing revenue driving strategies according to best practices and organizational business plans.

Training duties include managing and providing ongoing strategy with Affiliate Development Staff training of fundraising directors. This includes a robust onboarding process for new staff training and skill enrichment of current staff. Assist and expand onboarding of new Market/Regional fundraising VPs including product knowledge, best practices, and execution of revenue driving strategies.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • In partnership with SVP of Development - create and communicate affiliate revenue plan for the core products to raise $46+ million through 106 events. Continually assess effectiveness of plan, determine and communicate course corrections as needed, ensure tools, resources and training aligns with successful execution of plan. Lead vision, strategy, tactics and business analysis/intelligence of HW, HB, GRFW product lines. This includes best practice management and develoment of innovative solutions.
  • Direct Market Consulting to top events. Orchestrate consulting plan for all events with focus on top revenue and benchmark performance.
  • Manage event consulting team, consisting of 2 direct reports--one social events consultant and one walk events consultant. This team will be responsible for best practice-based consulting focusing on the priorities in the affiliate revenue/business plan. Annually develop revenue and consulting plan with SVP of Development
  • Manage/expand ongoing Affiliate Development Staff trainings of event directors (includes face to face new staff training and ongoing onboarding skills checks). Includes management of key training needs as requested by SVPs to align with affiliate revenue plan/tiered markets and events.
  • Onboarding and ongoing resource for Market VPs (product knowledge, best practices, execution examples, revenue driving strategies, management tools, how-to, etc.)
  • Ensure collaboration and alignment with national consulting team and affiliate Development Strategy and Operations team. Serve as the lead liason between the national consultants and the affiliate team. Determine communications, strategy sharing and "one voice" alignment between national center and affiliate. Work with affiliate SVP for 'one voice' communication.
Educational Background: 
Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Part-Time 10-15 hours per week
  • 8+ years of successful experience in fundraising
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence others without direct supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment to complete large-scale projects
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to travel throughout affiliate with approximately 20% overnight travel
  • This is a work from home position
