United Way of Miami-Dade is looking for a Program Officer to provide leadership in the design, development and execution of UW’s investment process(es). Contribute to the development and execution of United Way’s work in the financial stability area including research, community engagement, strategic planning, investment processes management, grant monitoring, and execution of special initiatives. Responsible for staffing the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).
Areas of Responsibility:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a results-based, goal-driven roadmap to achievement of positive financial stability outcomes in Miami-Dade County; includes research and community engagement to develop briefs, explore and secure partnerships with other community organizations; raise the level of public policy issue identification and policy analysis; execution of priority tactics, and monitoring of results.
- Monitor assigned Impact Area agencies by conducting site visits, reviewing and recording progress and data, preparing reports and promotional materials, and lending technical assistance. Effectively staff assigned Impact Council volunteers.
- Maintain effective relationships with public and private social service organizations, on behalf of United Way initiatives, by attending appropriate community, organizational and committee meetings. Keep abreast of community programs and public policy issues, and attend community meetings and events in representation of United Way.
- Manage the Emergency Food and Shelter Program including local board recruitment and management, facilitating fund distribution and serving as a liaison to recipient organizations; preparing various reports for the EFSP National Board as well as minutes and other documents as needed; arrange and convene special meetings to address critical issues that may arise.
- Coordinate outreach and marketing efforts for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Serve as a liaison between VITA program staff and organizations outside of the Coalition, including Miami-Dade County. Gather data and relevant information to support public policy efforts around VITA. Develop opportunities for volunteer recruitment, program expansion and integration with other Financial Stability initiatives.
- Effective support United Way’s work in disaster relief and lead VOAD efforts.
- Represent United Way at various community meetings, conferences, committees; attend and participate in UW special events to support our fundraising efforts.
- Manage Assigned United Way agency campaigns; and manage and support other matrix assignments, as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience:
- Two to three years' experience in non-profit/social service arena.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, customer relations skills, creative problem-solving skills, good judgment, ability to understand budgets, basic math skills, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $41,000 to $50,000 per year
