Serving as the Development Director you will have the opportunity to raise funds to help ensure that people receive the resources they need to move forward in life, from providing food for the hungry, clothes and household goods to those in need,  to helping people navigate through the challenges of life, while offering critical mental health resources.  

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities Include:

Director of Development will be responsible for sustaining the ongoing financial support of CCPC through cultivating relationships with and receiving funding from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies. This person will work in partnership with the Executive Director to develop, create and implement the strategic development plan for CCPC, in the hopes of expanding CCPC, perhaps even developing a replicable model to be used in other communities throughout the US.

Donor Database Management

  • Develop, maintain and manage a database of all donors; potential, current and past donors.
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising against ongoing progress through dashboards to monitor strategic goals, to be presented monthly to Executive Director, (quarterly to Board and at all-Board meetings), assuring that reporting requirements are met and that grant monies are being spent in accordance with grant requirements. 
  • Coordinate appeal letters, thank you letters and CCPC information correspondence to donors and supporters, including both monetary and GIK gifts.

Donor Cultivation

  • Cultivate donors through investing in ongoing relationships with existing and potential donors, developing policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices.
  • Develop, maintain and build upon strategic partnerships and relationships with existing and potential donors, key foundations, corporations, and governmental agencies.
  • Conduct regular presentations to diverse communities of potential supporters.
  • Design and implement development strategies and events that will engage and cultivate new donors, including a planned giving program. Special Event planning and management
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all development events, receiving input from the Executive staff for implementation and evaluation.
  • Assess role of events in overall fundraising strategy; improve upon existing events or design new events as needed, with eye toward improving return on investment
  • Come alongside Director of Programs with the development side of our Program Events (ie Hike 4 Hunger, Back 2 School Basics), helping to increase the return on investment.

Grant writing and reporting

  • Responsible for writing grant applications tailoring each proposal to funder interests and requirements, while continuing to refine a standard process and set of written materials for use in grant applications.
  • Work together with Director of Finance, Director of Programs and Executive Director to develop budgets to accompany grant proposals and submissions.
  • Work with the Executive Director to plan the annual budget and implement resource development strategies to meet and exceed budget goals.

Communications and Public Relations

  • Design, recommend and help implement communications and public relations strategy along with Executive Director in relation to development opportunities and activities for expanding public awareness of CCPC’s mission, services and programs.
  • Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts both for print and online communications, in conjunction with Executive Director.
  • Strategize with Executive Director and Social Media coordinator regarding creative ways to communicate the mission and impact of CCPC that is compelling and effective, using print media, video, social media and online communication. 
  • Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary.
Educational Background: 
• BA (required), MA (a plus)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five-plus years experience in development in medium to large organization • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of donor database programs or applicable CRM.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, in a multi-task  environment and maintain a positive attitude in the midst of change
