The Database Analyst is responsible for maintaining a high-quality data-base management system. This position will work closely with internal teams to support and analyze all aspects of the fundraising program. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the analysis of data reporting to increase revenue and better manage resources.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Maintaining the data integrity of the database, including implementing database cleaning strategies and processes in addition to training users to assist in maintaining high quality data entry standards.
- Ensuring that system policies and procedures documentation is current and accessible.
- Delivering targeted training to current and new users.
- Providing technical assistance and support for database systems.
- Maintaining user access and permission levels for database segments, assisting in managing the donor database, procedural recommendations, donor information updates, and system upgrades.
- Working to ensure the database and operations support the strategies of UWSHR’s development team, “translating” fundraising goals and plans into operations.
- Maintaining an ongoing evaluation of database systems and recommending improvements for greater efficiency.
- Working regularly with a broad range of internal partners including Marketing, Finance and Information Services to assist in managing third-party applications and integrations with other systems for on-line fundraising, peer-to-peer fundraising, or general ledger; conducting all global changes and/or imports.
- Preparation of campaign development reports for community leadership.
- Creating standard and custom reports to provide financial and statistical reporting, ad hoc analysis, PowerPoint presentations and a wide variety of other reports and statistics as required.
- Using full reporting capabilities of the donor software system beyond basic system capability.
- Developing and maintaining a system dashboard to allow for immediate and thorough analysis of campaign, annual giving solicitation and event results as well as major giving and planned giving programs.
- Providing enhanced reports and program management tools to increase revenue, productivity and better manage resources.
- Building queries and exports for complex mailing lists such as newsletters, direct mail appeals, and event invitations.
- Providing data selection, extraction, segmentation, program reporting and further donor analysis.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, or closely related discipline preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.

- Ability to analyze current information systems and make enhancements to increase their effectiveness.
- Must communicate clearly and concisely both in written and verbal form.
- Ability to prepare and present system related reports and sound recommendations to all levels of management and user personnel.
- Having an in depth understanding of organization operations to allow for effective data management strategies.
- Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to operate a computer and related peripherals.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of automated systems, Microsoft Office applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Must demonstrate initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and sound judgement in execution of work assignments, and flexibility to work in an environment with widely varying workload levels.
- Must be organized and task oriented to ensure deadlines are met.
- Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Prioritize work and successfully handle multiple tasks.
- Prior experience with Status Live, (other programs we use) is a plus.
- SQR Query proficiency is preferred.
