Ensure that United Way South Africa runs effectively, with efficiency and professionalism that meets the expectations of the board, our stakeholders and partners.  Oversee development and successful implementation of community impact programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Operations:

  • Oversee office administration
  • Manage and coach UW South Africa staff
  • Ensure operations of UW South Africa adhere to policies and procedures
  • Attend committee meetings
  • Plan and coordinate board and strategic meetings
  • Set and review budgets and manage cost
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and government compliance requirements for documents and certificates
  • Investigate and ensure training and development of the staff
  • Create and manage records and databases of all employees and donor and volunteer data, while adhering to Privacy laws.

Impact:

  • Manage projects implementation
  • Manage stakeholder relationships
  • Visits to project sites to ensure that projects are run with high quality and according to commitments
  • Work with project coordinators to ensure the UW South Africa support and alignment to proposals
  • Oversee project reviews to ensure statistical reports on business performance in keeping with UW South Africa Results Framework.

General

  • Participate in community functions to actively promote United Way South Africa as deemed necessary
  • Act as a role model in complying and supporting United Way South Africa and United Way Worldwide’s values, standards and policies.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years management experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in managing and coaching personnel
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of good Governance
  • Advanced computer skills and high proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications required including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, discretion and judgment and make appropriate decisions within the scope of the assigned responsibility
  • Have project management experience and ability to work with internal staff, Executives, Donors, visitors and vendors
  • Possess prioritisation and competent follow-through skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Previous experience in Non-profit organization would be beneficial, not mandatory.
