The Database Administrator will accurately and efficiently manage constituent records to support United Way Elgin Middlesex’s development strategies related to donor acquisition, prospect research, direct mail, email penetration and gift acknowledgment. This member of our team also maintains data integrity, trains staff on database functions, and executes data strategies and work plans.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Run queries, build data mining operations and write analytical reports for the purpose of donor engagement and moves management
- Provide reports, guidelines, and performance monitoring for the important elements of data integrity in the database
- Maintain a set of daily, weekly, monthly and annual metrics that define and track data integrity in support of development activities
- Lead the development and implementation of procedures to ensure best practices in data entry, reporting, and database integrity
- Maintain systems by performing regular technical and tactical functions, such as importing and exporting data into the database, running rebuilds and troubleshooting
- Train new and existing staff on functionality, data standards and reporting
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot data concerns and reconcile data with financial reports
- Maintain the database’s online giving module, including the setup and management of specific workplace and national campaigns
- Regularly assess the quality of existing data, staff and volunteer use of the database and identify areas for improvement and/or clean up
Educational Background:
Post-secondary credentials in database administration, data management or similar program, or a comparable combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum two years of relevant experience working with complex data systems related to customer service, sales or fundraising. Non-profit sector an asset
- Experience with queries, importing/exporting data, creating custom reports, mail merges, data storage and security storage
- Demonstrated experience working with a variety of relational database applications and CRM platforms; Experience with HTML, SQL, or Crystal Reports an asset
- Ability to analyze and present complex information and recommendations in simple, synthesized summaries
- Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work well under stress, meet tight deadlines, and adapt easily to change; Exceptional project management and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills
- Ability to flex work schedule to attend meetings and special events which occur before or after regular office hours
- Must be in possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle
