The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing a broad range of support to the VP of Human Resources; responsible for administration of all employee benefit programs; supervision and management of the volunteer program; and assistance with personnel and HR related topics. May perform other duties as assigned.
This position would be full time, $16/hr. Please include a cover letter when applying to this position. Please also note that an ideal candidate would be able to start the week of the 20th of August.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruiting and Onboarding
- Assist with the recruitment and hiring process including posting position openings, reviewing resumes/applications, conducting telephone interviews, reviewing candidate packets, and assisting with orientation
- Research and review updated employment laws, and help ensure compliance
- Ensure new-hire and benefits packets have up-to-date information and are prepared for distribution
- Administers all employee benefit programs
- Supplies essential payroll-related information to the payroll processor regarding benefit deductions
- Assist with annual benefit open enrollments
- Oversees data entry of all benefit enrollment in applicable systems including benefits sites, COBRA administration, etc.
- Prepare employee retention award certificates, gifts, and thank you lists each month, and update the retention spreadsheet
- Perform data entry/database management, records management, and filing related projects
- Manages volunteer services program
- Conducts recruitment, screening, reference checks, and placement of volunteer candidates
- Establishes volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals
- Collects essential information for all volunteers including background checks
- Tracks volunteers hours and maintains records
- Establishes and maintains volunteer retention and recognition program
- Provides essential volunteer data to appropriate State Office employees for grants, donor opportunities and other reporting needs
- Communicate with businesses, organizations, and schools/colleges/universities for participation in volunteer opportunities within ESW
- Assists with personnel related topics to employees, program directors, and senior leaders
- Routinely handles details of confidential nature
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
Educational Background:
High school diploma or GED
Skills/Experience:
- Associates Degree (AA) or higher in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field (preferred)
- Prior experience with recruiting, including volunteers, preferred
- One to three years related experience and/or training in human resources, benefits coordination, and/or volunteer coordination
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks and work independently
- Ability to type 40 wpm; Intermediate to advanced ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Must be dependable, strongly self-motivated, and able to exercise good judgement and to work in accordance with ESW policies and procedures
- Must pass Washington State Patrol criminal history background check
- Must have proof of U.S. citizenship or right to work
