This position is a fundraising role with responsibility for managing, growing and developing a portfolio of donors, with a focus on the Key Club African American affinity group and building relationships with local entrepreneurs across all segments of the community. The Relationship Manager effectively builds and manages external, year-round giving relationships with current and prospective donors, volunteers and advocates, by developing and executing strategies for increased engagement and growth in individual giving.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Set and achieve fundraising goals for portfolio of assigned donors.
- Evaluate and analyze relationships to determine opportunities to develop effective strategies for the current campaign year and beyond.
- Build a strong group of volunteers who will make asks for individual gifts and help plan and execute engagement strategies.
- Develop a year-round engagement and messaging strategy for donors within the portfolio.
- Personally solicit individual donor prospects to give.
- Integrate workplace campaign, corporate grants and leadership giving into comprehensive strategies and plans for donors and prospects.
- Understand and effectively communicate the Community Impact message of United Way.
- Provide an optimal level of support and service to assigned volunteers to leverage greater resources and relationships and deliver results.
- Utilize effective sales and relationship management skills and professional demeanor at all times.
- Manage campaign-reporting mechanism to maintain, monitor and project portfolio progress.
- Work with CEO, Senior VP of Resource, Resource Development Team and others to help plan donor relationship strategy, organize information and materials to make a successful campaign and secure increased year-round engagement.

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree and or 4 years equivalent experience in business, finance, marketing or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Candidate must be a self-starter, creative, an innovator with independent judgment and function well as a team member.
- Strong sales, presentation and motivational skills to convey the United Way fundraising message are critical.
- Position requires knowledge of business community, volunteerism and management; an understanding of methods and procedures for determining relationship potential, assisting in establishing relationship goals and objectives and analyzing portfolio progress.
- Work requires management skills in planning, organizing and directing volunteers and staff to meet objectives and timelines. The ability to multi-task is essential.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and database systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, when required.
- Must have a strong commitment to diversity.
- Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports United Way Mission, Vision, Value and Standards.
