Development (Fundraising) Director

We currently have an excellent job opportunity for an experienced fundraising or sales professional as a Development Director in Maui , part of our Hawaii Division. As the Director, you build meaningful volunteer partnerships in the local community to advance the mission of the American Heart Association and generate revenue through the Heart Walk and Go Red For Women fundraising campaigns.

This is a home office position based in Maui with strong preference for candidates currently living in and familiar with the assigned area.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages relationships with exsiting and new business to achieve a fundraising goal of $245,000 through assigned campaigns.
  • Drives campagin growth through a combination of renewing and securing new corporate and community sponsorship, company and team participation and individual giving. Develops and implements a strong prospect pipeline.
  • Actively identfies, recruits and manages leadeship volunteer, building strong and sustainable relationships
  • Oversees event management and execution and manages customer and account information
  • Ensures strong internal and external communication including ongoing reports on plan and campaign progress
  • Adheres to established best practices, timeline and deadlines
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-5 years successful experience in fundraising, outside sales or marketing
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment, training, and management
  • Highly effective organizational, communication, negotiations and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment
  • Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with the American Heart Association or similar nonprofit organization
  • High comfort level in new business development
  • Experience in securing corporate cash sponsorship
