The Development Coordinator for the resource development department is responsible for the overall administrative support of United Way staff and volunteers. The position reports directly to the Resource Development Director but will split time with the Major Gifts Officer. The most qualified candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and organization of donor & volunteer information, assisting with events, assisting the Major Gifts Officer in administrative duties.
Areas of Responsibility:
Research grant opportunities and potential funding sources locally, regionally, and nationally.
- Prepare, compile, and submit grant proposals.
- Keep accurate records of grant proposals and grant organizations/businesses.
- Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with local businesses, individuals, and Corporate Global Leaders.
- Build relationships with midlevel management, human resources, marketing, & communications, and other influential employees of local businesses.
- Consistently represent the United Way and its mission in a positive manner.
- Assist the resource development team by developing, motivating, and managing volunteers that assistst United Way fundraising.
- Assist in fundraising planning.
- Use creative thinking and multiple resources to develop new or improve existing revenue streams.
- Maintain accurate donor information in United Way database including all communications, donor inquiries and follow up information.
- Help with United Way events as needed and other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
High School Diploma
Skills/Experience:
- Grant writing, fundraising, sales, or customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively build relationships with corporate, local government, and nonprofit leaders as well as community members, colleagues, and volunteers.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple departments to achieve goals.
- Must be mission focused and able to link donors, volunteers, and citizens with the United Way mission.
- Must act with integrity and strong ethics that are reflective of the United Way brand in all environments and situations.
- Experience in working with data management systems.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience working in databases.
- Competent in review and proofing of written materials for accuracy.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information and management of a variety of responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service skills and computer skills required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $31,000 to $40,000 per year
