The Vice President of Community Impact is responsible for the planning, development, management and implementation of strategies to achieve the greatest possible impact in helping improve outcomes for individuals and families and achieve community level change.
Provides leadership to the Community Impact staff and to volunteer teams in order to help people in need reach their potential. Build collaborations on behalf of United Way of Olmsted County with key community leaders, funded community partners, state and local entities and other community constituents.
Manage community initiatives as assigned, providing strategic direction, coordinating program components, assisting with resource development, evaluating and reporting results to the community. The Vice President of Community Impact is a hands-on member of the Community Impact team, reports to the President and is a member of the senior leadership team.
Create Community Impact
- Ongoing assurance of United Way’s continued visibility, involvement and leadership in critical health and human service issues in our community.
- Identify areas where opportunities for collaboration and developing partnerships to improve the quality of life in the Olmsted County area.
- Provide support and professional leadership to volunteer teams and Community Impact staff.
- Assist President and Board of Directors in setting vision and priorities, defining outcomes and tracking community indicators.
- Work collaboratively within the organization to ensure effective management of United Way resources.
Identify Effective Strategies
- Synthesize and distill large amounts of information into key action items. Conduct research and prepare necessary reports on community issues, community needs, nonprofit agencies, special populations, etc.
- Identify and monitor key indicators that measure the effectiveness of United Way of Olmsted County’s community impact efforts.
- Provide for analysis and maintenance of data necessary for planning and reporting.
Partner and Community Relations
- Provide support and development to Community Impact staff, partners and volunteers to ensure the right capabilities exist to implement strategies, assume leadership roles in critical areas of human needs in our community.
- Develop and maintain collaborative efforts with other funding sources to address problems and to meet the changing needs in the Olmsted County community.
- Drive for results and in coordination with the resource development team, secure non-traditional funding sources, such as foundations and government grants.
- Progressive, responsible experience in the field of human service, and/or non-profit planning.
- Demonstrated experience working in an environment of systemic change.
- Strong collaborative, facilitation and consensus building skills.
- Effective and engaging communicator, with excellent written and oral skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience working with staff, volunteers, community partners and community members at large in providing leadership, direction and resource information as needed.
- Demonstrates computer proficiency in various software applications i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook Express and Internet. Andar and/or e-CImpact experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of strategic planning and outcome based methodology.
- Experience in building budgets, implementing budgeting decisions, developing and monitoring contracts as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, collaborative problem solving skills and the ability to motivate others.
- Demonstrated success in program development and grant writing.
- Knowledge in outcome measurement, strategic planning, evaluation and statistical analysis.
- Exhibits cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse populations and organizations.
- Team player; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Salary: $61,000 to $70,000 per year
