The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Senior Coordinator will support implementation of Save the Children’s ECD programs in Puerto Rico. Save the Children’s ECD program focuses on children ages 0 – 6 and their caregivers. Programs will include components of early literacy and numeracy, child-parent group and community outreach approaches to support the educational the development needs of ECD aged children. The education component of our ECD programming focuses on supporting children, caregivers and community members to be active participants in the social, emotional, and educational wellbeing of children, starting from birth. This position will report to the Early Childhood Development Senior Specialist.
- Implement and monitor early childhood education component of Save the Children’s Puerto Rico response, including follow-up on implementation with partners receiving sub-grants.
- Under the direction of the supervisor, manage early childhood education activities, including distributions of early childhood education learning kits and materials in targeted communities and through partnerships with daycares, communities, and other institutions caring for children under six.
- Support the identification of key strategic partners for implementation of early childhood education programs, and the rollout of community outreach and peer-to-peer approaches to ECD in targeted communities.
- Provide technical guidance and trainings to community-based organizations and local partners receiving subgrants and gifts in kind.
- Build relationships and partnerships with formal and informal daycares to integrate SC-funded programming to promote early childhood development and learning.
- Contribute to the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for the early childhood development program.
- Provide technical guidance and oversee early childhood education sessions at SC-supported community to ensure appropriate and consistent education messaging to caregivers at all programming contact points and in the community.
- Facilitate the design, implementation and monitoring of outreach activities.
- Lead and monitor early childhood education activities; prepare field visit plans and supervision checklists in advance of trips.
- Prepare timely program reports for early education activities and completed distributions.
- Provide early education support and conduct orientations and trainings to build the capacity of Save the Children staff/volunteers, community leaders, day care staff, local partner staff and the community at large to promote consistent good practice.
- Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between Early Childhood Development, Resilience, Education, and Child Protection programming.
- Support the development of proposals for funding of early education activities.
- Prepare situation update reports on early education to be included in internal and external reports and advocacy efforts.

- 3-4 years of relevant experience, including delivery of early educational programs and child care.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
- Excellent Spanish communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent personal organizational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Resource management, training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Willingness to work and travel to challenging and remote environment and requirements.
- Strong people management skills/experience and proven ability to create an environment which encourages team-working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
- Ability to meet government and federal agencies requirements for working with children.
- Good analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-4 years’ experience in area of expertise as (Early Education, Primary and Secondary, Child Development)
- College/advance degree in related area ( Education, Social Worker, Psychology)
- Proficiency in conversational English, both written and verbal, is highly desired
