This is a program support position for the United Way Regional Connections satellite office located in Green Valley. Reporting to the Director, Regional Connections, this individual assists with all strategies and tasks associated with the projects and programs in South and North Pima Counties.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position for a motivated individual with excellent communication, organization and computer skills. Working with and under the direction of the Director and Senior Program Manager, this individual plans and coordinates activities in collaboration with local agencies that deliver services to children, youth and families.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Project Development and Implementation

  • Prepares spreadsheets; enters and tracks a variety of data
  • Provides expert technical assistance and document support in several project areas
  • Develops program material and application processes for children and youth- related projects and funding opportunities
  • Works cooperatively with and supports team members in carrying out the assigned projects with special emphasis on early education and child development projects
  • Summarizes information from community surveys and other data sources

Program Administration

  • Assists Director and Senior Program Manager to coordinate funded activities
  • Assists Director and Senior Program Manager with tasks related to the Great Expectations Community of Practice and parent education programs
  • Provides staff support for all program related meetings
  • Schedules meetings, reserves rooms, takes meeting notes, makes photocopies and meeting packets and maintains membership logs with contact information
  • Assists Director and Senior Program Manager with expenditure reports, purchase orders, scheduling and other administrative tasks as needed
  • Prioritizes responsibilities and assignments and completes timely reports
  • Creates, modifies and maintains routine and special letters, newsletters, memos and reports using word processing, database, spreadsheet and other software packages
  • Performs duties in accordance with United Way policies and procedures such as attending staff meetings, completing expense reports and other program reports, faxing documents and tracking RSVPs as assigned

Coordination/Customer Service

  • Provides excellent customer service as a component of all job duties
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with United Way staff at all levels, volunteers from diverse backgrounds, donors, community partners, independent contractors and others

Resource Development

  • Participates in United Way resource development activities to support the work of the Resource Development Division in securing resources and carrying out special events and projects (e.g., Days of Caring and Community Impact events)

Public Education/Advocacy

  • Assists with activities related to public education and advocacy efforts and other community projects
  • Participates in employer "fairs" and local community events occasionally held on weekday evenings and weekends
  • Help with early childhood conferences (Ex. Early Childhood Partnership of Southern Pima County Annual Conference and Fall Workshops) professional development, and volunteer opportunities
Educational Background: 
Associates Degree preferred, high chool diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred and two years administrative experience in human services or other related field 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and/or child development preferred
  • Well-developed computer skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Power Point with above average knowledge in troubleshooting software problems
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem-solving, research and information management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and to respect and observe organizational protocol
  • Ability to occasionally travel to work in a variety of locations throughout the metropolitan Tucson area and Southern Arizona whenever required
  • Flexibility in schedule to work occasional weekday evening and weekend events when required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, daily access to reliable vehicle and able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
