To inform and assist the business in all aspects of Fundraising and Data Protection compliance in its UK and International operations.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • To be the Designated Safeguarding Officer for WVUK and to proactively promote Safeguarding throughout all areas of the business
  • To manage any referrals and incidents on child protection matters, reporting these to Police, Social Services and the Partnership.
  • Making decisions and judgement calls on information supplied on DBS checks and soft information from Chief of Police regarding the suitability of employees, consultants and visitors to our projects.
  • To work closely with LADO ( Local Authority Designated Officers ), on individual cases and to report if necessary to DBS ( Disclosure and Barring Service).
  • To be solely responsible and accountable for providing advice and sign-off on child safeguarding matters..
  • Develop a coherent risk based approach to child safeguarding matters considering legal and regulatory requirements, WVI policy and best practice, external best practices and the risks the organisation faces. This approach is to be formalised by updating existing policies where needed.
  • To manage any interactions with external agencies and WVI on child safeguarding matters
  • To develop and deliver all staff, consultant, volunteer and trustee training on Safeguarding
  • To create and undertake safeguarding travel assessments for all persons travelling to the field with World Vision, ensuring that these are relevant and these are recorded and kept securely.
  • To ensure that all mandatory training is undertaken, documented and reported on
  • To report on Safeguarding to SLT and trustees
  • To manage the Child Protection log, incident learning review system and reporting infrastructure for staff and supporters.
  • To proactively research and contribute to third sector Safeguarding forums, representing World Vision UK.
