Grant Compliance Specialist - SHOP Grants

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a diligent Grant Compliance Officer to join our Government Grants team. Reporting to the Manager, US Grants Compliance, the Grant Compliance Officer monitors affiliate grant recipient compliance with federal regulations (OMB Subpart F audit requirements) through remote and on-site monitoring as well as provides technical assistance and training. The SHOP grant program disburses approximately $4-5 million annually to affiliate grant recipients and has been used to help more than 14,000 families obtain safe, decent and affordable housing. This position will be located in our Administrative Headquarters and will require approximately 50% travel. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinate monitoring visit dates with affiliates throughout the United States that receive HUD grants
  • Conduct remote and on-site monitoring compliance visits with all SHOP affiliates as required by the grant
  • Monitor & evaluate of affiliates in accordance with federal OMB Subpart F audit procedures to include program, federal statutory & regulatory requirements and financial record-keeping audit
  • Follow-up with all audited affiliates to ensure their compliance with federal regulations by formulating written findings, recommendations for improvement and collecting follow-up documentation to meet the grant requirements
  • Schedule and conduct SHOP Compliance Training with affiliates by assisting in developing alternative training opportunities such as virtual and online training tools
  • Provide technical assistance as needed with individual SHOP affiliates
  • Play an integral role in developing on-site monitoring policy and procedures, including a manual, general training materials, and the tracking of all compliance data in the SHOP database
Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning, Non-Profit Management or Public Administration
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 to 5 years of Federal and/or State grant management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for daily interactions with affiliates, department staff, HFHI field staff & other HFHI departments 
  • Ability to interpret complex federal regulations and knowledge of GAAP, accounting, financial analysis and budgeting experience, auditing and government contract experience
  • Federal or state grant experience
  • Skills in conducting training
