The Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for planning, managing, and promoting community and leadership volunteer engagement opportunities that support UWSEM's mission, fund development, and community impact goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan and coordinate an ongoing program of recruitment, interviewing, training, referral, placement, and recognition of volunteers.
- Match individuals and groups with volunteer opportunities.
- Develop strategies to increase participation in United Way volunteer projects and initiatives. Recruit groups and individuals for scheduled engagement opportunities.
- Plan, manage, and execute special donor engagement projects to strengthen the donor experience and recruit future donors.
- Assist with the successful execution of Learn United Way tours, speaker's bureau, and volunteer projects and events.
- Plan, manage, and execute at least two Nation Days of Service to connect donors to the work of United Way.
- Keep records of volunteers, and prepare reports on volunteer programs. Help compile reliable, accurate data for post-project evaluation and reporting.
- Provide guidance to the Volunteer Engagement Associate, as needed.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, social sciences, community organizing or a related field
Skills/Experience:
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement project plans
- Adept at engaging diverse populations while exhibiting cultural sensitivity and inclusion
Acquired Knowledge:
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in volunteer services, community relations, project management or a related field
