The Training Specialist is responsible for training staff, by assessing training needs, designing, updating and delivering training using a variety of instructional techniques. The Training Specialist is also responsible for updating, enhancing and producing training materials, identifying and recommending ongoing/new training in alignment with business needs. This position will function with minimal supervision and utilize experience and judgement to plan and achieve the assigned tasks/goals.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assess training needs of staff, and identify whether refresher training may be necessary.
- Design, develop/update and deliver trainings that align with business needs by partnering with SME's.
- Facilitate training programs for new and existing staff, using a variety of instructional design techniques and formats (training manuals, job aids, online training), to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer and skills.
- Continuously research and benchmark industry standard best practices, including training tools, learning methodologies, etc. to provide best-in-class instruction.
- Report on instructor and curriculum effectiveness by using various evaluative techniques and providing suggestions for improvement.
- Other training-related duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit, social work or a related field and/or certification from an accredited body, either in instructional design, delivery/facilitation, or both
Skills/Experience:
Demonstrated Abilities:
- Ability to develop technical and/or professional educational content, including trainer guides, worksheets, handouts, and assessments/evaluations
- Ability to provide training that is tailored to an individual's learning style and performance improvement needs
- Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, Instructional Design, principles of curriculum design
- Knowledge of evaluation procedures for measuring training outcomes
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
Acquired Knowledge:
- 2+ years in development and delivery of trainings
- 2+ years working with a learning management system
- Advanced degree in instructional design or delivery from an accredited university preferred
- Demonstrated business, operational or procedural knowledge of a 24/7 contact center preferred
