Manager, Corporate Engagement

The Corporate Engagement Manager is responsible for increasing charitable giving to and through corporations and individuals by developing and maintaining strong and effective relationships, by articulating the critical role of private and corporate philanthropy to the vision of United Way. This position will engage, identify, build, maintain relationships with investors, partners, advocates, and volunteers in order to maximize the financial gift support and volunteer engagement to United Way. This position must be committed to offering exceptional fundraising services, knowledge, and counsel to donors, prospective donors, and leading institutions in the community.       

Areas of Responsibility: 

Manage Corporate Campaigns (50%):

  • Plans and executes successful corporate campaigns through development of strategic plans and objectives, which align with companies’ needs and corporate social responsibility goals that provide year-round engagement with the purpose of increasing campaign revenue. Continuously creates, manages, analyzes, and improves all aspects of the project planning within each individual account and documents process in order to successfully prepare for campaigns. Researches and communicates with investors to learn more about them as donors and their interests in order to add value to campaigns. Implements the overall annual department plan into daily work and each corporate partner’s campaign plan to ensure growth in resources under management for UWSC. Coordinates UWSC speakers for campaigns as necessary, focusing on UWSC impact and programs. Manages set-up and implementation of ePledge site for accounts who run electronic campaigns. Communicates with other United Ways working on the same campaign, along with marketing, to develop materials that ensure campaign success. Evaluates results with Campaign Coordinator at the conclusion of campaign to review SWOT of campaign for improvement in future campaigns.

Relationship Building and Management (25%):

  • Builds relationships with multiple levels of investors, advocates, donors and volunteers to increase awareness of UWSC and the work it provides to the community through individual engagement visits and bringing investors to UWSC community engagement events. Delivers effective individual and group presentations which are powerful and impactful to drive support of UWSC. Based upon his or her knowledge about the special interests of individuals, corporations and foundations, counsels institution staff members on matters relating to private funding, advising which funding sources might be appropriate for particular projects and the best manner of approaching them, and helping to formulate specific projects requiring private support.

Engagement (10%) :

  • Promotes and motivates Campaign Coordinators, investors, volunteers, partners, and potential investors to participate in the Community Engagement events held by UWSC so they can have” hands-on” experience of the positive impact UWSC has on the community.  When needed by the Director, Engagement; assists in preparation for and staffs engagement events. 

Reporting (15%):

  • Consistently provides quality projections and reports for campaigns to Vice President, Corporate and Community Engagement. Maintains accurate communication notes and complete account information in the Andar Campaign Management and CRM Database System. Maintains records of all past and current approaches to outside funding sources so as to avoid unnecessary and undesirable conflicts. Maintains contact with donors after receipt of contributions including preparing acknowledgements, arranging for events in coordination with the Tocqueville Society Associate Vice President, and arranges for periodic reports on program progress.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor degree in business management, organization or non-for-profit management;
Skills/Experience: 
  • United Way experience; or other related field required.
  • 5+ years experience in coordinating and managing the relationship of corporations, foundations and individuals from who funds are sought for various strategies, programs and projects.
  • Must possess an understanding of current philanthropic and public relations interests of individuals, foundations or corporations, acquired through regular contact with those individuals and organizations. In turn, he or she maintains the necessary relations program to keep the institution name and achievements alive in the minds of individuals, corporate and foundation executives and board members.
  • Volunteer management experience.
  • Proven sales executive experience as a sales executive, sales manager or sales.
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of an organization, including the executive and C-level.
  • Demonstrated experience developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills.
  • Competent in MS Office products.
  • Interest in the improvement of the Summit County community.
